I made this recipe a couple of weeks ago. I was skeptical about the olives (I'm generally not a fan of olives), but the chili was delicious. I'm so glad that I did add the olives, because they add a briny note that counters the sweetness of the root vegetables. The chili was a bit spicy at first, but mellowed after refrigerating and reheating. I have a few servings waiting in the freezer. Well done, Caroline!
