mediterranean diet: simple garlicky greens
another sextuplet enters the stage
Recently, I wrote about the brassica oleracea sextuplets - cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale and rutabaga - healthy vegetables with identical DNA.
I’ve already covered Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli. So it’s time to give springtime kale its due. Even if it doesn’t happen to be my favorite of the bunch, who knows? It might be yours.
This recipe can be adapted to any dark leafy hardy green you want to treat to a flavorful toss-up. Plus, it’s the perfect canvas for all sorts of pantry options... nuts, dried fruits, alliums.
Just pay a little attention to those optionals as they are not calculated in the finished dish macros. But you have the reference tools to add any optional flavor bits to the total if you go that route.
